Under the snow and freeze-dried leaves are teeny tulip, peony, and iris sprouts poking through the dirt. Green things are thriving under their blanket. Usually we have frost-pocked dirt, so this is a new gardening experience for me. We had sooo much snow this winter.
After the fiasco with the pump for the pond stream being accidentally turned on and virtually emptying the pond contents over the snow bank, a mere six of my twenty-some odd pond fish survived. I am thrilled, though, to see that two are females and there is still hope that perhaps some of the babies are alive in the weeds or in their home (a converted lobster trap from our Canadian travels).Hiding from the summer heat
